Hi all,
Let's kick off another quick speed challenge.
the brief is to 'SKETCH SOMETHING'

This can be anything you like - a level idea, a hat for a character, something in your house, a person, or even just doodle some loose ideas - the deadline is 31st October and there will be prize.

Visual communication is an extremely important part of game development when communicating ideas and interpreting briefs. A quick sketch show to your art director can save you days of work in 3D, so it a skill you should really master - sketching is a massive part of this.

EVERYONE should try this - most of you don't sketch enough, so try to do one or two quick pieces at least.

Good Luck

Nice work Frap - I love seeing step by step stuff - thanks mate.

Adam - nice one - try to decide what the character will do/be, then design it - it'll help.

Fodder - great stuff, I still fear my tablet for drawing - maybe we should have a tablet session

Here are mine - a very quick sketch of the Hilton in Sarigerme from my balcony and a quick dub 'Pure Dope'

Hi all,

I used to do a lot of sketching when I was at school, and sort of lost it. Then I got the graphics tablet, and I still find it easier to use paper than use the tablet.

I find it annoying at times when you can't get onto paper what you have in your head, even though at one time you could have done it with your eyes shut.

I think to be good at sketching you have to have something already, but also it is an art that can be practiced and improved upon.

Unfortunately it is hard to fit everything in with a full time job, 3d modelling, programming, playing guitar and writing. Sometimes something has to go.
