struggling to find motivation?

Absolutely, I'm going through a bleak patch of motivation. I'll use level design as the example for this post.

I've thought about making a single player mission and/or 1 vs 1 map for Company of Heroes. I have ideas noted, a couple of map designs I'm fairly happy with, including one which remains unfinished. My problem is that I skip one day from the project and I prolong the procrastination. I have spontaneous moments of inspiration but I often fail to act.

Interestingly, I think, leave me to improvise with the tools and I can sit there for hours, learn a little something and usually find it enjoyable. Add some structure and rules I quickly leak motivation.

I have a few thoughts where my motivation is hiding, but I still remain in a crewless pitstop.

the key thing here is to make a list of all the things you have to do for the level, then prioritise them.

Next, put estimates against each task and start to work through them.

Post up regular updates here, and we'll help you along with advice and motivation.

I might not be the best person to give this sort of advice, but I do have a few hints and suggestions, even when morale seems low.

First of all, invest in a whiteboard or two, and a few non-permanent marker pens. They're pretty cheap, but I cannot stress enough how important they are.

Prioritize your workload into stages/phases and write down a schedule of what you can do in one day, or how long a task can be done. See it through to the end, and you'll get there.

As Andy has stated; there are no shortcuts. But keep going, and you will get there.

yes, you are far more likely to succeed if you follow a plan rather than just winging it
